At tonight’s Board of Education meeting, UFEA president Lindsey Dickinson shared the following comments with the board and administration on behalf of UFEA:
I’m Lindsey Dickinson and as president of the Unit Five Education Association, I’m proud to represent nearly 1,000 hard working, dedicated and determined professional educators.
The Unit Five Education Association believes our schools and our district should be places where students, their families, and our staff feel safe, supported and valued.
Our members work hard every day to support each other and our students. We are committed to creating safe, inclusive learning environments. We have begun this collective work with the DELT committee, professional development, and continued conversations around diversity, equity and inclusion. We welcome and appreciate the continued efforts from the board and administration.
UFEA supports policies, practices and efforts that affirm and support diversity, equity and inclusion. And we support proactive efforts aimed at keeping the students who attend — and the staff who work in — our schools safe and healthy.
This work is challenging and it will take commitment and dedication, but it is important and worth it. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in these efforts.
