- IEA President Al Llorens, 73, passed away Thurs., Sept. 25:
- Llorens, who spent more than 30 years in the classroom in various cities around the state, had been president for two years. He was an athlete, a coach, a math teacher, a loving husband and a father, among so many other things. He will be greatly missed.
- Statement from Karl Goeke, IEA President & UFEA Member
- I am sure that many of you have heard the tragic news that our beloved president, Al Llorens, recently passed away. Suffering a loss like this is never easy, and it certainly is not easier as we live through times when it is difficult to be an educator. The truth behind all of this is that life is never guaranteed to be easy and circumstances make it difficult and, at times, overwhelming. The good news is that when times are hardest, we know we have each other.
